Bernardus Lodge & Spa, Carmel Valley

Bernardus was a real mixed bag for me. The rooms were not cheap but spacious and comfortable. Although not ready upon arrival, they were so stylish with the vaulted ceiling, fireplace, and hip decor. The service was very friendly and high-quality, although housekeeping was occasionally inconsistent. The location in the hills above Carmel was a nice escape, offering a tranquil setting and the option to bring along your dog. The dining experience in the dining room was amazing, with delicious offerings. However, all in all, I left underwhelmed considering the high price tag.

Staying at this hotel was an absolute delight! The rooms were spacious and comfortable, making us feel like we were in a cozy cave nestled underground. The furnishings were top-notch, and the views were simply breathtaking. However, navigating the stairs down to the front door was a unique quirk. The service was superb, with incredibly accommodating and polite staff, though occasionally, the maid service was a bit inconsistent. The location was ideal, especially for a quiet getaway in a stunning setting, but transportation outside the lodge could be a challenge. The dining experience was superb, offering amazing and generous meals, particularly via room service. The facilities were top-notch, contributing to a truly luxurious stay.

I had an amazing stay at the hotel. The room had a dream bathroom, which was beautiful, very spacious, and included in-room snacks. The service was top-notch, extremely professional, and accommodating to all our needs. The location was stunning, with fantastic outdoor amenities. The dining was delicious, although not included in the rate. Overall, a fantastic experience with a few minor drawbacks.
